About Shepard Hall

Shepard Hall, named after Edward Morse Shepard (class of 1869), was designed by George Browne Post in a competition for the best design for CCNY's new campus. It is designed in Collegiate Gothic style which made it one of the first buildings in the U.S. of this particular architectural style. It sits on the original two by two block land area owned by the City College on their uptown campus. The groundbreaking ceremony took place in 1903.
