On Monday, January 15, Manhattan Country School eighth-graders will honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. by taking to the streets of Manhattan to speak out about what they consider to be the most pressing civil rights issues of their time.
As the oldest students at Manhattan Country School, the eighth-graders are responsible for planning this annual march—from choosing the theme and selecting the route to writing the speeches and publicizing the event. The march, now in its 30th year, is part of the school’s core curriculum, which includes activism and community building beginning in preschool.
The march starts at 10 a.m. and ends at approximately 2 p.m. at Manhattan Country School. March route details to come.
MCS families, alumni, staff, friends, supporters and the general public are invited to participate in this educational and uplifting annual event.
Please join us on January 15. Until then, stay up to date with march developments by visiting http://www.manhattancountryschool.org/, joining this Facebook event page and following the #MCSMLKMarch hashtag on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.
